Dr Chris Haves, BSc, DVM

Dr Chris Haves learned to love working with animals at an early age as he grew up on a dairy farm outside of London. They had Ayrshire cattle and an awesome Border Collie named Kerry who herded the cattle up to the barn for milking each day. He taught her many tricks but couldn’t get her to stop wagging her tail when she played dead!

He went to university in Guelph, earning a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Molecular Biology and Genetics before entering the Ontario Veterinary College. After graduation in 2000, he worked in mixed animal practice for 6 years before focusing on cats and dogs exclusively.

Dr Haves opened Doon Animal Hospital in May 2010 (actually 10 years to the day of his first day in practice) and soon after moved his family to the area as well. He and his wife have 3 sons who are active in local sports. When he is not at work during warm months of the year, he is probably biking, camping or kayaking with his family. In the colder months he is probably at an arena or building one in his backyard! If you are brave enough, visit his place on Halloween!!!
They have a Border Collie Named Jett and a Westie named Nash! Not to be forgotten, his cat Fisher!

He came to us in September 2022 due to a chronic on-going skin condition. he currently loves to sleep anywhere there is a blanket and will let you know when it is time for his afternoon snack. He is a very sweet boy and has been known to walk up front and greet everyone at the front door. He spends his week here at the clinic, but on the weekend, gets a little vacation away by spending it with technicians Stephanie and Gill, at their houses. Please give him a warm welcome to the team!

In her spare time, you’ll either find Stephanie on an outdoor adventure with Oslo, curled up on the couch with a good book, enjoying a movie, or attempting to cook a new recipe she found online…one thing is for certain though, no matter what she’s doing, you’ll always find her smiling!

tony

In Memoriam: Tony

Tony passed away in February 2019 and we still miss him dearly. He came to us for euthanasia in July 2014, but it was clearly not his time. So he came to stay with us! He was the perfect clinic cat, loving the attention and the hustle and bustle of a vet clinic. He loved belly rubs! In fact, when he was younger and little more active, he would come running when he heard children’s voices, then flop over in front of them for a rub!

In Memoriam: Timbit

Timbit 1

Timmy came to us for euthanasia in June 2021. We decided it was not his time as we knew we could get his diabetes under control and we did just that! Timmy was an amazing addition to our clinic for 9 months and greeted clients all day long, while also laying on the front computer. He is very sadly missed by everyone!
